Legislative and Judicial Developments:

  • The Parliament saw a flurry of activity, with the Centre pushing six bills for approval. The Lok Sabha passed the revised Income Tax Bill 2025 and the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill. Also approved were the National Sport Governance Bill, 2025, and the National Anti-Doping Amendment Bill, 2025.
  • The Rajya Sabha passed a bill to provide reservation to Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the Goa Assembly and approved the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2025.
  • In judicial news, the Supreme Court confirmed the conviction of Narmada Bachao Andolan leader and activist Medha Patkar in a criminal defamation case lodged against her by the current Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena.

  • Union Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh, inaugurated India's first Animal Stem Cell Biobank and Animal Stem Cell Laboratory in Hyderabad, Telangana.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro, built at a cost of around Rs. 7,160 crores, and laid the foundation stone for its Phase-3 project. Additionally, the Nagpur-Pune Vande Bharat Express was flagged off.
  • Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) became the first miscellaneous non-banking financial company (NBFC) in India to surpass a business turnover of Rs 1 lakh crore, doubling its business from Rs 50,000 crore within four years.
