Rescue operations are currently underway in the affected areas, including along the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine route near Adhkuwari, where a landslide tragically killed nine pilgrims and injured 21 others. Thousands of people have been evacuated from low-lying flooded areas, and telecommunications services in the region remain significantly disrupted.

The Centre has announced the appointment of Justice Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, and Justice Vipul Pancholi, Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, as judges of the Supreme Court. This appointment follows the Supreme Court collegium's recommendation.
