In a significant push towards national development, India has launched several new government schemes and policies over the past 24 hours. Key initiatives include a ₹1 lakh crore Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme to foster private sector-driven R&D, a new Employee Enrolment Scheme by EPFO to expand social security coverage, and Karnataka's ambitious Skill Development Policy aiming to transform the state into India's skill capital. Additionally, the government reduced APM gas prices to ensure energy affordability and introduced new guidelines for financial assistance to freedom fighters' families.

In a series of strategic moves aimed at accelerating economic growth, enhancing social welfare, and fostering innovation, the Indian government and various state governments have rolled out significant schemes and policies in the last 24 hours.

₹1 Lakh Crore RDI Scheme to Propel Research and Development

A landmark initiative, the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund of ₹1 lakh crore, was launched on November 3, 2025. This substantial fund is designed to bolster India's research and development ecosystem, with a particular focus on cultivating a private sector-driven innovation environment. The scheme was unveiled during the inauguration of the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025, currently underway in New Delhi. ESTIC-2025 serves as India's premier annual platform for scientific collaboration and innovation, bringing together over 3,000 participants from academia, industry, and government.

EPFO Introduces New Employee Enrolment Scheme 2025

To expand social security coverage and promote voluntary compliance, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) launched the Employee Enrolment Scheme 2025 on November 1, 2025. This special six-month initiative, unveiled by Union Minister for Labour & Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, offers a simplified compliance mechanism for employers. It aims to extend EPF benefits to eligible employees who were previously not covered, providing establishments a one-time opportunity to regularise their past compliance until April 30, 2026.

Karnataka's Ambitious Skill Development Policy

The Karnataka government has announced its ambitious Skill Development Policy 2025-32, a seven-year strategic blueprint with an outlay of Rs 4,432 crore. The policy's primary goal is to position Karnataka as the "Skill Capital of India" and contribute to a USD 1 trillion economy by 2032. Key targets include skilling 3 million youth, increasing women's ITI enrolment to 33%, and establishing a Skill University in Sandur. The policy was announced during the Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025, themed "Workforce 2030: Scale, Systems, Synergy."

  • Model Youth Gram Sabha (MYGS) Initiative: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Tribal Affairs, launched the MYGS initiative. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, it will be rolled out in over 1,000 schools nationwide.
  • Haryana's Financial Assistance for Freedom Fighters' Families: New guidelines have been notified by the Haryana government for a financial assistance scheme for the marriage of daughters and grand-daughters of state freedom fighters and Indian National Army (INA) personnel. The updated provisions aim to remove procedural ambiguities and streamline the disbursement of ₹51,000, ensuring direct benefit transfer through Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
  • Reduction in APM Gas Price: India has lowered the November Administered Price Mechanism (APM) gas price to $6.55/mBtu, marking a 3% reduction from the previous month. This decision aims to maintain energy affordability for critical sectors and consumers, reflecting the government's commitment to balancing commercial viability with accessible energy.
  • Special Campaign 5.0 Culminates at DST: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) successfully concluded Special Campaign 5.0, focusing on Swachhata (cleanliness) and pendency reduction across its offices. The campaign reclaimed 2.10 lakh sq. ft. of space, reviewed over 18,000 physical files, and disposed of scrap generating over ₹6.82 lakhs in revenue.
